Exercise classes

Your doctor might recommend this approach if he or she thinks that it might be suitable for your back pain, depending on the cause. Exercise classes are usually arranged for small groups and a course of 8 sessions over 8 – 12 weeks should normally be offered. The aim is to help you strengthen your muscles and improve your posture, as well as improving general fitness with aerobic exercise, and mobility through stretching. If you don’t want to wait for NHS sessions, you could join a private class – but be sure to tell the instructor about your back condition.
